Splitting the Bill Without Splitting the Vibe

In a world where group payments still feel awkward and clunky, Snappi challenged me to rethink bill splitting into something fast, fair, and even... fun. Through 4 semi-structured user interviews, I uncovered how social friction, non-digital habits, and app confusion turn a simple coffee meetup into a micro drama. Insight: it’s not just about math — it’s about feelings, familiarity, and flow.

From Clunky to Snappi

I designed and prototyped an experience that feels as simple as a calculator. Whether it’s scanning a QR carousel, chipping in without sharing contacts, or triggering friendly reminders with GIFs, this concept transforms settling up into a lighthearted social ritual. Think Splitwise logic meets Revolut elegance — plus a dash of “Split Mayhem” for that dopamine hit and quicker settling times.

A Prototype Built for Real Life

From interviews to high-fidelity interactions, every design move was tied to emotional requirements (Jon Kolko, Well Designed 2014): youthful, caring, empowering, and free. I used real tools like ProtoPie and rapid UX testing to validate flows with non-contacts, auto-reminders, and on-the-spot scanning. The result? A design vision ready to go live, delight users, and spark smiles — even after the bill drops.

This was a paid position assignment for a new neo-bank in Greece.
